Green in the City: Discover the Westminster Ponds Centre

Saturday, March 9 @ 9:00 am 12:00 pm

In this Green in the City session learn about how climate change affects nature, and how you can spot the impacts in your very own backyard! Plus discover the environmental significance of the Westminster Ponds Centre site, a hub for promoting sustainability and environmental health and wellbeing in the London-Middlesex region.

Join us for a family-friendly guided walk led by Rebecca Launchbury, Conservation Lands Manager with Thames Talbot Land Trust around the Westminster Ponds Centre to learn about the impacts of climate change on nature, then end the walk back at the Bruce Pavilion building where you can warm up in the Volunteer Training Centre with some coffee and tea, connect with outreach booths about the environment, climate change, and nature conservation, and nature-themed button making and colouring for kids! There will also be presentations by Carolinian Canada to discuss the importance of the Carolinian Zone and why we should work to protect it, and Shaquille Sealy, Operations Manager to discuss the Westminster Ponds Centre’s vision to be a community space in London where people can discover, explore and develop environmental sustainability.

Feel free to stay and explore after the event, the Westminster Ponds site is London’s largest Environmentally Significant Area, with extensive trails and biodiversity. Learn more about the Westminster Ponds Centre here.
