LONDON’S OSPREYS

At the midpoint of the Osprey breeding season, London has 15 active nests reported. This year, London’s first Osprey chick was reported at the Labatt nest on June 7th. Our prospects for a healthy crop of young Ospreys in 2024 are very good.

LONDON’S CHIMNEY SWIFTS

Nature London’s Chimney Swift Monitoring program participated in the National Chimney Swift Roost Survey on May 22, 26, 30, and June 3. The average number of swifts counted entering chimneys each night was 540. The averages in the past two years were 476 (2023) and 570 (2022).

City Nature Challenge April 26 to April 29, 2024

The City Nature Challenge is an international community science event in which regions compete to make the most observations of nature. Knowing what species are in our city and where they are helps us to protect them.

By participating in the CNC, not only do you learn more about your local biodiversity, but you can also make London a better place – for you and other species!

Please email Jennifer if you can contribute an hour or more of your time at the Nature London booth to talk to people. There are three events that could use some assistance: Earthfest on April 20, Spring Species ID Workshop on April 27, and Go Wild Grow Wild Green Expo on May 4.
